DVT Engineer, Amazon Leo Government

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.<br/><br/>The mission of Amazon Leo’s Government (ALG) team is to leverage existing Amazon Leo technology and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to the United States and our allied government customers.<br/><br/>The DVT Engineer will play a pivotal role in the team delivering innovative and fast-paced analysis and design solutions, focusing on satellite and ground system design and analysis as well as on the design verification of the various communication and control needs (compute, storage, data transfer, etc.) of the electronics sub-systems. They will be expected to lead a variety of tasks, from design and component verification, circuit validation, to board bring-up and test. They will work across teams and support fellow engineers with design reviews and the preparation of joint reports and proposals. The candidate will have a sharp focus on the specific needs of the customer and be able to conduct trades and analyses to show that proposed solutions will meet the customer’s goals.<br/><br/>The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on complex programs with a diverse set of talented individuals, as well as with partner organizations (including government agencies). The candidate will exhibit the potential to lead small sub-teams of electrical engineers, and be able to prepare easy-to-read and technically compelling written reports.<br/><br/>This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Key job responsibilities<br/> Interact directly with customers to understand technical requirements, and translate them into technically robust solutions backed by data and analysis.<br/> Responsible for electrical circuit design verification (including digital and analog power) for hosting sensitive RF and communications payloads including processing, memory, and communication buses. <br/> Strong technical background and work experience verifying and validating electronic circuits including Analog Power, Digital Design, Mixed-Signal ADC/DAC, RF, Processors, FPGA, MCU, SoC, Memory, Transceivers, Clock generation and distribution.<br/> Strong background in electronics test equipment including digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, power meters, etc. <br/> Perform and document test plans, procedures, and reports including: Design Verification (DVT), Qualification (QTP), and Acceptance Test (ATP).<br/> Facilitate cost trades on multiple parallel test configurations for cost/manufacturability vs test uncertainty.<br/> Deliver well-written documentation, reports, and presentations for technical design reviews and as part of proposal efforts.<br/> Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware.<br/><br/>Export Control : This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.<br/><br/><br/> - Experience with prototyping and implementation - Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools<br/>- 2+ years of electronics verification testing<br/><br/>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br/><br/>Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
